Joshua Van Tassel is a sideman, producer, composer and sonic landscaper. He regularly performs some of Canada's best song writers such as Great Lake Swimmers, Amelia Curran, Sarah Slean, Donovan Woods, Rose Cousins, David Myles, Sarah Slean, among others. Joshua is also quickly becoming known as a go to producer, having worked on albums for Sarah Slean, David Myles, KIRTY, Rosie And the Riverters, Christine Bougie, Megan Bonnell, and more. With his solo career Van Tassel has a built a reputation as a producer and composer of electro-acoustic music that is both highly sophisticated and easily digestible. His music, which has been featured on the Outdoor Life Network’s program “Departures” and “Descending”, is a tapestry of traditions; the familiar plucking of folk music floats amongst drum machines and ambient field recordings, driving bass lines melt into flowing synth melodies. He has been nominated and won numerous ECMA and Nova Scotia Music awards, and is currently at work on a full length book/novella entitled "Crossworlds" to be released in March 2018. Joshua is also the producer of the respected CBC radio host Laurie Brown's podcast "The Pondercast".
